Jana renders excellent service because she affords her full attention to producers . She has 12 years ’ experience since she joined the company in 2004 .
She regards her role as the link between Senwes , the market and the producer . She conveys important information to them and negotiates better prices for them . The success of a good grain procurer , according to Jana , is that every farmer needs to be evaluated individually . “ Every farmer needs something different . Every farmer expects something different from you .”
Individual focus involves contact with every producer , drafting reports and sending out sms ’ s . Her afternoons are fully booked with visits to her producers . “ During these visits we calculate production costs , decide when contracts should be concluded and we decide on the tonnages to be contracted . This is the most important time , which should be used to draw up a marketing plan for the year .”
ABOUT BLOEMFONTEIN PRODUCERS She has a lot of good things to say about her Bloemfontein producers . “ I know my farmers - I have wonderful farmers and I enjoy them - particularly the farmers without drama .” They all get along very well and they have good contact with farmers ' unions .
Her motto is : “ Be consistent in your work .” She emphasises that follow-ups are of the utmost importance . “ When you say you are going to do something , make sure that you do it . Producers must be able to trust you . Once the trust is broken , it is not easy to recover .” Further advice is that one should always try to recruit new clients . As an example , three years ’ hard work on one producer only started to render results this year .
More information about Jana is that her first position was that of grain procurement assistant at Petrusburg , where she was promoted to grain procurer . She has been in Bloemfontein for the past three years . This 39-year old Kimberley-born lady has two children , Jalani ( 18 ) and Roelof ( 10 ). She was married to Roelf for six years before he died of a heart attack in 2009 . Roelf also worked for Senwes for more than a decade as assistant silo manager at Petrusburg .
In addition to reading her clients , she also has a passion for reading books . Her favourite writers are Patricia Cornwell and Richard Montanari . She says that she reads books written by any author who made it in the world of writers .
