THE FINAL OF THE SENWES SPINNERS DEVELOPMENT CRICKET PROGRAMME
WAS HELD AT SENWES PARK ON SATURDAY 11 APRIL, WHEN HUMANSVLAKTE
AND RABANA PRIMARY SCHOOLS FACED EACH OTHER FOR THE R5000 PRIZE.

H
owever, it was development cricket that
won the day. “The Senwes Spinners
programme is in its 9th year and as can be
seen by the passion and sheer joy shown by the
participants again this year, we are pleased that
the programme continues to have a positive
impact in the communities where we do
business,” said Senwes PR and Events Manager,
Japie Fransman.
“The skills development in the game at this
level is obvious with the boys having no trouble
hitting sixes and launched fast balls with ease.
I have to remind myself sometimes that these
boys are still in primary school,” said Japie
“The programme came about after we
teamed up with North West Cricket in 2006
and launched The Senwes Spinners, which
has become the flagship programme in Farm
Schools Cricket Development in the country,”
Northwest Cricket and Senwes have
hosted the Spinners tournament annually
from its inception. Ten schools participate
in the programme and the children and
coaches receive training. The schools
also receive equipment and clothing.
