took over from Thys Knoetze on 1
April 2016.
CAREER HISTORY
After obtaining his degree at the
UFS in Bloemfontein, Gerhard
worked for PWC in Welkom,
where he completed his 3-year
internship. During his short
career he was the financial
manager of HFR Transport
in Johannesburg for two years
before he moved to Klerksdorp
to join Senwes as financial
analyst, after which he joined
Grasland as financial director.
WHO IS GERRIT?
He describes himself as a very
enthusiastic person who likes
being involved and, according
to him, he is “geared” for this
position. His personal philosophy
comes from his grade one
teacher at Sentraal Volkskool in
Kroonstad. Fredia du Toit drilled
the “I can”-motto into his brain
and this is still his conviction
today. It forms part of his “believe
in yourself”- culture, with which
anything is possible.
The conversion from the
transport business to Grasland
went like clockwork for the
Theunissen-born Gerrit, who
matriculated at Hoërskool
Bothaville. Gerrit acknowledges
that ‘Grasland and experience’ are
his destiny for the future.
Gerrit has been married to
Melissa since 18 Januarie 2014.
As financial director he likes
learning new things and, in
his own words, he is “ready for
action”.
