he following are good tips for February/
March 2016:
Cut out old flowers of seedlings, roses and perennials - it will stimulate the plant to generate
new flowers and leaves, which will result in a
better quality and happier plant.
Feed plants on a six-weekly basis during the
growing season with a general fertiliser such as
5:1:5, 2:3:2 or the slow releasing 3:1:5.
Bone meal in the garden is good for root growth
and more organic options are available, such as
Bounce Back and various other Neutrog products. Don't add too much bone meal to plants
which prefer aciduous soil, since it will increase
the pH of the soil. Make sure to water the garden after the application of plant food in order
to avoid damage to plants.
7:1:3 of 4:1:1 can be applied to lawns.
Apply Karbaspray – it will eradicate mole-crickets, which are causing a lot of damage to lawns
at present. Kamakazi is best for harvester termites - they carry it into their nests, which are
then eradicated. Water the lawn three times a
