N E WS WS AWIE MYNHARDT What do you do and what are your duties? I am an insurance broker for Certisure and market short-term and crop insurance products of various insurers. I also deal with client claims. How has your career progressed? After my school career I did two years’ military service, and then worked at Volkskas Bank. I joined Kroonstad-Wes Co-operative in 1981 as insurace marketer. After the amalgamation of Senwes and Kroonstad-Wes Co-operative, the Kroonstad-Wes Insurance Division decided to break away and established Kroonstad-Wes Brokers. Kroonstad-Wes Brokers then became part of Univision, which currently conducts business as Certisure Insurance Brokers. Where were you born and where did you grow up? I was born in Bloemfontein, grew up in Koppies, and later in Kroonstad. Where were you schooled? Laerskool Sarel Cilliers in Koppies up to standard 2, after which I went to Kroonheuwel Primêr in Kroonstad. I completed my high school career at the Afrikaanse Hoërskool, Kroonstad (Rooiskool), in 1976. What did you do directly after school? I started to work directly after my military service and after 35 years I am still an insurance broker. How do you see your future within the company? Certisure is involved in product development and the acquisition of different agencies to ensure that all the insurance requirements of the client are met. For that reason I see an excellent future for myself at Certisure. What advice would you give your client? That one should insure property which could impact negatively on one's financial situation should it be damaged/stolen. Leave the less important things which only increase premiums. What do you do in your spare time? I like being outdoors and enjoy hunting, target shooting and fishing. Family? Married to Marie for 33 years. We have two children, Michelle (30) and Freddie (26).
