FFA (FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA) GLOBAL PROGRAMMES GIVE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE THE DIFFERENT AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES AND CULTURE IN OTHER COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD. S tudents who are members of FFA participated in the International Leadership Seminar for State Officers. These youngsters, that were handpicked from the best, recently visited South Africa in order to learn more about local agricultural practices. Those who participate in global programs: 1. Develop a broader perspective as they become more culturally aware. 2. Gain a greater understanding of an ever-changing global marketplace. 3. Learn about internship and employment opportunities from global industry leaders. 4. Develop friendships with diverse groups of people who share a common interest in agriculture. The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. They were welcomed at Senwes by Joe Maswanganyi (Executive Director: Strategy, Sustainability and Corporate Services), Pieter Malan (Assistant General Manager: Grainlink Operations) and Christo Booyens (Managing Director: TradeVantage). Maswanganyi described the visit to Senwes as a “mutual learning experience”. He pointed out that Senwes is one of the biggest agribusinesses in the country. He highlighted the importance of joint ventures and partnerships in the industry and said the company strived to be sustainable.
