Griffons. The fact that rugby is
huge in this city can be attributed to Doc Danie Craven, who
expanded rugby to the smaller regions in 1968. They are known as
the Purple team and were known
as the Purple People Eaters some
years ago.

Comrades King - Louis Massyn
Louis Massyn has won the most
Comrades medals in successive
races (44) and will equal the
Comrades record (45) in 2017. In
addition he has run the most Two
Oceans Marathons (41) as well.
He is also the only person ever
who has completed more than 40
Comrades and 40 Two Oceans
marathons.
Rugby giants - Seabelo Senatla
Seabelo Mohanoe Senatla is the recently crowned 2016 world sevens
rugby player of the year. He may
be a Stormer, but he is a product
of Riebeeckstad High School.
Other rugby stars from the city are

and CJ van der Linde.

The well-known Telkom Tower
is 107 metres high and was built
in 1965, which makes it 51

The clock tower at the Civic Centre is another well-known landmark and has 200 steps to the top.

Due to the high water table, maize
production is at the forefront.
