T
he 2019 SGS NVIRO Crop
Precision Farming Solutions day,
which was proudly sponsored by
Senwes, was held on Tuesday,
11 June 2019 at Senwes Head Office in
Klerksdorp. The event welcomed various
successful farmers who are already imple-
menting the SGS precision farming solu-
tions in their farming strategies.
The key focus of the day was to make
farmers aware of innovative and integra
ted solutions through data analysis of soil,
plant and water to increase yields and
32
effectiveness in their farming operations.
Various success stories were shared on
the day, including one of the youngest
and successful farmers, Francois Marx.
“The biggest advantage that I have
received from SGS Precision Farming is
the processed data of all my resources,
which has been given to me in a manner
that I can understand, interpret and imple-
ment,” says Francois.
It is a fact that technology is improving
at a rapid rate and new solutions are com-
ing along daily. The availability of this type
of technology can only benefit your farm-
ing operations and one is almost guaran-
teed of a good return on investment with
minimum input costs.
SENWES SCENARIO | LENTE • SPRING 2019
“The reason why I use SGS Precision
farming, is to drive continuity in my farming
operations for the generation to come and
also to farm in the comfort of my home, by
using all the advanced technologies that
come along with the data,” said producer
Tharina Terblanche.
So, the proof is in the pudding - it is
important to keep up with the technolo-
gy that has been developed in order to
improve efficiency in your farming opera
tions.
The main objective of any farmer is
to increase yield and lower input costs
or keep it the same and with the help of
precision farming, that objective can be
realised.
