his time, however, they gathered
at Senwes Park on the weekend
of 14-16 June as team-mates
and not opponents. The Senwes
Spinners High Performance team was
assembled by North West coaches and
talent scouts during the 13th annual
Senwes Spinners tournament in April.
The High Performance team received
matching team jackets to cement their
exceptional performer status and solid-
ify their team identity. At the handover
ceremony which took place on Friday,
14 June, Senwes Head Group Corporate
Marketing and Communications, Johan
Grobler, congratulated the selected play-
ers and encouraged them to continue to
strive to be the very best that they can
be and to take their sport and academics
seriously, as these two things may be the
key to a very bright future for them.
Since its inception, the Spinners
development programme has afforded
Senwes and NW Cricket the opportunity to
give back and make a lasting difference in
the lives of many young boys whose spor
ting dreams have come to fruition through
the support of Senwes Spinners. To date,
through the tournament, five young boys
have received full scholarships for high
school and tertiary education.
Saturday evening came with a sweet
treat for the boys. After very tough games
against Matlosana Hub, the boys enjoyed
some downtime with a night out to the
local mall and a movie.
One of the big stars from the High
Performance weekend was Lethabo
Memani, who was selected to
join the NW Cricket under 13
open team for a tournament in
Rustenburg at the end of the
High Performance weekend.
