The new petrol in Fuel Division ’ s tank
Derik Wolmarans was recently appointed as the new manager of the Fuel division at Hinterland . Derik was welcomed as part of the Hinterland management team on Wednesday , 1 July .
EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE FUEL INDUSTRY Derik is the right man for the job . He used to be the area manager for Shell in the Sandton and Soweto areas , where the largest Shell service station in South Africa as far as volumes are concerned , namely the Ben Schoeman Ultra City , was under his control . He also held various other positions , such as property manager , business development manager and national operational excellence manager in the retail sector and national operational sales manager in the commercial sector . He established new fuel stations which included Salvokop in Pretoria and the KHS fuel station

in Klerksdorp and managed various other stations . He was also the training officer responsible for the training of new fuel station owners .
EDUCATION In addition to experience , the 41 year old Derik is a man with a BA degree in Communication and Media Studies , obtained through Unisa in 1999 , and a Masters ’ degree in Business Management , specializing in advanced marketing studies . Derik is currently doing a post-graduate diploma in project management , and is considering a doctorate as part of his five-year development plan .
He believes in Stephen Covey ’ s seven habits of effective people , particularly : “ 1st seek to understand .”
He has been applying this philosophy for the past decade .
PERSONAL Derik has been married to his school romance , Anria , for 11 years and they have two sons , FG ( 6 ) and CJ ( 6 months ). He describes himself as a lover of adrenalin sports and is also passionate about hunting , fly-fishing , bonsai and photography .
THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE POSITION He is perfect for the position , due to his experience and extensive experience in the fuel business , where he managed branches with the latest technology and some with no technology . It was an excellent learning curve for him since he gained experience of what works in the lower and higher LSMareas . Derik will definitely spill his litres of experience at Hinterland - to the last drop .
Hinterland part of annual shooting competition
THE BOTHAVILLE Hunters ’ Association , in co-operation with Hinterland and InteliGro , will be presenting their annual shooting competition .
It will be held on 27 August this year at the Marouzlans rust shooting range , approximately 17 km from Bothaville . Shooting will take place from 100 m , 200 m as well as 300 m on the range . The day promises to be a challenge with a large variety of targets to shoot at . Each shooter will require a total of 15 rounds for the day .
Divisions in which prizes can be won will be : Seniors , Open ,
Ladies , Junior Rim-fire , Junior Air-gun and Junior Hunting Rifle . In the past as many as 120 shoo ters participated in the competition . Attempts are being made to involve surrounding towns as well in order to have at least 200 competitors on the day . Any person with a hunting rifle can enter . The range has been planned in such a way that it will ensure a level playing field for shooters at all levels .
The entry fee for the day will be R300 for early entries , accep ted until 20 August 2016 . From 21 August until the day of the competition , on 27 August , the cost will be R350 per entrant . The cost of a braai pack for the day is not included . Please note that should an entrant not stay for the prizegiving ceremony , he will forfeit his prize . There will also be hidden prizes and lucky draws , which means that anybody can win a prize on this day . Braai-packs will be available from the tuck-shop on the day .
