A
ttendees received a lot of food for thought
from a number of speakers such as Francois Strydom (Group Chief Executive), Corné
Kruger (Group Financial Executive), Martin van
Zyl (Group Executive: Innovation and Integrated Solutions), Pieter Malan (Group Executive:
Grainlink), Jenny Harmzen (Divisional Manager
Finances: Grainlink), Wimpie Bouwer (Manager
Market Access) and Graham Lottering (Operational Manager). This was followed by group
discussions.
Francois emphasised that a leader is known
by the number of people served by him and that
we are all equal. One should do one’s work in a
calm and humble manner. Ownership and the
manner in which we do things lie within us. It is
also important to be proactive.
Corne focused on the cost structure of silos
and emphasised that the competitor had to be
outperformed. He also said that it was time to
prove our loyalty.
The keynote speaker of the day was producer
and hot air balloon enthusiast, Danie Minnaar.
Danie, a producer from Bothaville, fell in with
the theme. He had the audience hanging on
his every word with his stories about his hobby,
namely hot air ballooning, and how he applied
this hobby to his life. He is the reigning SA
champion. It left everyone convinced that Senwes will go to new
heights, like a hot
air balloon, with the
necessary leadership.
Danie Minnaar
shares his passion
for hot-air
ballooning.
