[ ! ] COMMUNITY SPENDING R’m 4,5 4,0 3,5 3,0 2,5 2,0 ISSUES DURING THE YEAR � Limited government support and assistance in rural areas. � Poverty and famine in rural areas. 5,0 COMPANY’S RESPONSE TO THESE ISSUES � Senwes, through Thobo Trust, launched an integrated hub in Losdoorns, which comprises a vegetable garden, an improved early childhood development centre and sports initiatives. � The vegetable garden established in 2018 yielded excellent results, that enabled the trust to use the proceeds to contribute to the school’s daily feeding programme. � Proceeds were also used to erect fencing around the school to enhance the children’s and the school’s safety and security. � The bathroom facilities were repaired and upgraded. � Connectivity for a new computer centre was established. � Senwes, also through Thobo Trust, in partnership with Bastion Lime, launched a vegetable garden project at Rooigrond, near Buhrmansdrif.
