Throughout the various lockdowns students organised a series of collections with different themes to support their local community .
appreciated by the schools receiving them and overall , the collection was very successful . Looking forward , we are hoping to make the drive an annual school event so that any more sports equipment from the Sevenoaks community can be donated to a good cause .

SPORTS EQUIPMENT DRIVE
I decided to organise a sports equipment drive which took place in February , with the help of Miss Davison , Mrs Strange , and my friend Annabella Hayward ( Year 9 ). Being a sportsperson myself , I found that lots of my sports equipment was going to waste instead of being reused , even though it was still in perfectly good condition . For instance , I threw away old tennis racquets , as well as old hockey sticks , that I had outgrown . This motivated me to organise a drive to provide people with the opportunity to donate any sports items to local primary schools across Kent . We collected many boxes filled with sports equipment , including numerous netballs donated by the PE and Sport department , as well as some memorable items , like a pair of ice skates ! DIGITAL DRIVE
Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic , we found ourselves more dependent than ever on digital devices . However , 21 per cent of households in Sevenoaks lack a device to FaceTime their family , and many households have a single computer to share between multiple children .
The digital divide is not new and there is a clear distinction between having access and having enough access . I wanted to encourage students to empty out their family drawer of old phones , tablets and computers which sit and collect dust , so we can instead recycle these devices and share them with our wider community . This would help students to attend their online lessons and help elderly people to speak with their families .
