Above: Classes of 1980, 1975 and earlier education policy and up to 30 per cent of us, myself included, enjoyed our time at school as a result.
The tour after lunch allowed us to reminisce: the Johnson Library used to be the hall for gym, drama and the sitting of exams; the Flat and Lower Flat, once home to the tennis and football contests, is now surrounded by technology rooms, performing arts spaces and a sports centre of multiple facilities for every taste and a myriad of games.
We were blessed with glorious weather, and everyone certainly seemed to enjoy the day.

CRICKET REUNION
The school’ s hugely successful cricket era of 1969 to 1975 was celebrated appropriately at the home of cricket, Lord’ s, in May, on the first day of the Kent vs Middlesex County match.
With OS from that era, Sir Tim Laurence( OS 1972), President of Kent CCC for 2025, and the five captains, John Hook, James Graham-Brown, Chris Tavaré, Guy Hollamby and Paul Downton, rallied a group of 20 from far afield, to enjoy a splendid day of cricket memories going back 50 years. Toasts were raised in memory of coach Alan Hurd, who was the inspiration behind the teams, and in memory of Martyn Gregory( OS 1974), who played in all five of the unbeaten years.
It was no surprise that three of those captains, James Graham-Brown, Chris Tavaré and Paul Downton, played county cricket in very successful Kent and Middlesex sides. Indeed, batsman Chris( 31 Tests) and wicketkeeper Paul( 30 Tests) represented England, albeit only once ever in the same team, a fact celebrated by a plaque on the pavilion at Solefields.
