THE WELLBEING GARDEN
In April, bright tulips and daffodils began to flower in our Wellbeing Garden, bringing spring cheer to the heart of the campus.
They were among some 6000 bulbs planted in the garden in November by students in the Education Action Group and Wellbeing Group during their Thursday Service sessions.
Joined later by alliums, the flowers surrounded the Sakura cherry tree, which was one of 7000 given by Japan in 2022 to parks and schools across the UK to commemorate the long-standing friendship between the two countries. The Sakura tree has settled into the heart of the garden, on the site of the old open-air swimming pool – an infamous place to
Old Sennockians who remembered swimming in its cold, murky depths, now transformed into a peaceful walled space.
The Gardens team also planted thousands of bulbs on the school grounds last year, using lasagne planting to ensure a series of colourful blooms throughout spring and early summer. A particularly fine display could be seen along the old stone wall between the Library and Health Centre( formerly the Head’ s House).
The Wellbeing Garden was also seeded with white flowering Dutch clover, which with its pink and white flowers loved by bees, brought further colour and wildlife to the garden throughout the summer months.
