ROYAL NAVY
It has been a great year for the Navy section, with all cadets getting involved in a variety of exciting activities. Not only has the section continued to do exercises in sailing, navigation, drill and Navy history, but we have introduced land yachting, compartment clearing and field gun, through visits from our Area Instructor, a Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Navy.
A particular personal highlight for me was when we were taught compartment clearing for the first time. The Sixth Form were encouraged to creatively invent a scenario in which we acted as hostages on an enemy ship from which the younger cadets, armed with Nerf rifles, had to save us.
Many of our senior cadets have also been accepted onto a multitude of camps and courses sponsored by the Royal Navy. These courses range from sailing and yachting courses to leadership courses and a week spent with the Royal Marines. One of our cadets is even attending a marching band course for his fourth year in a row!
All of this, of course, would not be possible without the amazing staff, whose enthusiasm and love for the CCF is absolutely infectious!

RAF
For the RAF section this year has been busy and fun filled. With field days and gliding trips, there hasn’ t been a dull moment in the RAF. We began the year with a new influx of cadets in the training section who worked hard and showed great commitment to the team. The day at The Royal Air Force Museum and Hendon resulted in top scores in the Air Cadet Quiz and many tried the flight simulation.
A successful gliding trip had cadets hitting record times in the air and having a once-in-a- lifetime experience. At the annual section dinner we said goodbye to our amazing, dedicated Upper Sixth NCOs and reminisced on the fulfilling year we had had. A summer field day at Arena Pursuits included an assault course, river crossing and many more exciting team-building activities for the Year 10 cadets.
With more exams passed and excellent test scores achieved, it is safe to say the RAF is as strong as ever. Thank you to the wonderful staff who have made everything possible – here’ s to another fabulous year!
