SHARING EXPERTISE WITH THE NEXT GENERATION
Our thanks to the growing number of OS who return to Sevenoaks School each year , generously giving their time and expertise to support current students .
Human rights barrister and Deputy High Court Judge Dexter Dias KC ( OS 1981 ) gave a Friday 4 talk and led a moot court activity . Dexter invited students to think about foundational questions : What is justice ? Why do we have it ? Where does it come from ? What function does it perform in our society ? He gave insight into cases where he has been counsel or judge which speak to the nature of our times .
Staff and students benefited from a variety of sessions led by OS during the year . Body language expert Mike Carter ( OS 1973 ) delivered a workshop during the school ’ s Mental Health Week . Writer and musicologist Dr Leah Broad ( OS 2009 ) led a workshop and spoke about her book , Quartet : How Four Women Changed the Musical World ( see page 13 ).
It was also an honour to have violinist Minn Majoe ( OS 2008 ) leading a Chamber Music Workshop . Minn studied at the Royal Academy of Music and has a hugely successful international career .
Across two Professional Insight Forums , Charlie Gilpin , Isla Stevens , Rory Barber , Charlie Hewlett , Marsha Ilina , Eloise Robson and Fran Danczak ( OS from 2009 to 2019 ) all generously shared their journeys beyond school with current students .
At the annual Careers Fair the students are fortunate to benefit from the experience of Old Sennockians , and greatly appreciate the introductions to career pathways as they consider life beyond Sevenoaks . Once again , we are grateful to the many OS who attended and shared their advice and knowledge of a fantastic range of professions and industries , including aviation , construction , business , medicine , law , neurotechnology and publishing .
