During two gliding trips to Kenley , all staff and student cadets created lifelong memories and helped cement an already established passion for the section , while our unique yearly dinner in March was another success , celebrating all those involved in the section and promoting unrivalled camaraderie among all year groups and staff alike .
The Summer term field day to the Battle of Britain Museum on the anniversary of D-Day proved both educational and fascinating , with further bonding and engaging history revealing the heroic and often sombre tales of the RAF ’ s finest hour .
RAF
The RAF year got off to a strong start , with exciting mountain biking and orienteering enjoyed on our Michaelmas term field day to Bedgebury while our new Year 10 cadets enjoyed their first proper taste of the section in a field day of their own . Backed with yet another gun run win in 2023 it was clear the year would be strong for the RAF . Training section was competitive and the strong performance was a fitting testament to the skill and dedication shown by our NCOs and new cadets .
The year ended with Founder ’ s Day and another strong performance from the RAF section , bringing us the Gun Run trophy for a third consecutive year .

Congratulations to Mr Simon Mavroleon on receiving a HM Lord-Lieutenant ’ s Meritorious Service Award . These supplement honours bestowed by His Majesty the King in the Honours Lists and rank after them in precedence . Mr Mavroleon has been inspiring our cadets with extra sessions , developing teams to compete in Military Skills and shooting , and the drill squad which performs ceremonial duties .
