It has been a wonderful year at Sevenoaks . The school is all systems go , and it ’ s been great to experience the vibrancy of so many aspects of school life , and the warmth of the Old Sennockian and parent community .
Seeing the students throw themselves wholeheartedly into everything , from their studies to sport , drama , music , art , service and clubs , is a joy . We have had many firsts : the hockey 1st XI are national U18 champions and our U18 basketball side won the LISBA play-off finals for the first time . Our sailors have had many successes in regional and national championships , and Sevenoaks teams made the national finals in golf , netball , tennis , debating and chess . Other co-curricular groups have been extraordinarily successful in national and international competitions , including MUN , CCF , robotics , chamber music and Performing Shakespeare .
These are not our only triumphs and innovations beyond the classroom . Our students do such extraordinary things every day ; they are driving change and making a difference , often on their own initiative . Three individuals have been working at the forefront of technology , harnessing AI to help speed up cancer diagnoses , making chess more accessible for the visually impaired and designing an Alexa Skill to help improve wellbeing .
