The filming also meant a wider engagement with the town . Pupils from local girls ’ schools made their way to the park while a few golfers and dog walkers also watched the filming .
During a break from the shoot , the Beatles were seen in the upper High Street , where they were served at the Top o ’ the Hill restaurant . Three doors down from the restaurant , John Lennon bought a circus poster in an antique shop that provided the lyrics for the track ‘ Being for the Benefit of Mr . Kite ’ which appeared on the Sgt . Pepper album .
The horses used in the filming were reportedly provided by the stables at Godden Green . The offices of the local newspaper emptied of journalists and photographers as they all raced up to Knole to cover what was a huge news story for Sevenoaks .
There are still parts of the story that are being pursued in order to fill in some gaps .
If anyone has further memories of the Beatles ’ visit , these will be similarly welcomed and added to what ’ s been established so far .
