ARMY
This year , the Army section had plenty of successes . We welcomed 44 new cadets into the training section where they learnt the basics of fieldcraft , drill and personal pride through a series of competitions and Hicks platoon , led by WO2 Sebastian Bray and Cpl Ruby Balcombe , and we won the inter-platoon drill competition , coming second in the overall standings .
In the Lent term , the Year 10s undertook their weapon-handling tests teaching them to safely handle the cadet GP rifle . In June they attended their first tactical field day which included plenty of blank firing and tactical scenarios . The Year 11s continued working on their cadres in fieldcraft , communications , first aid and shooting . Our Sixth Form NCOs further developed their leadership traits , by teaching and leading platoons in the training section , while the senior NCOs assisted officers with the Year 11 cadres .
