CRICKET
BOYS ’ PROGRAMME
The U15A team went on an incredible cup run as they won the Miskin Cup ( Kent Schools Competition ) and then won the regional quarter-final versus Westminster School to make the regional finals day . In the semi-final we came up against a strong Forest School , who ended up winning the national trophy . We then played King ’ s College School , Wimbledon , and beat them convincingly to finish third in the South of England , which is a great achievement . A special mention to Ben Dawkins who scored a phenomenal number of runs in the competition . He scored a century against Westminster School and KCS Wimbledon in the latter stages of the competition .
Another action-packed Summer term and great progress for all
GIRLS ’ PROGRAMME
We saw a huge increase in girls choosing cricket as their summer sport , which meant more teams were created and more matches were played . There was a real buzz every games afternoon with pupils keen to learn more about the game . We entered the U15 and U18 national cups and made it through the first couple of rounds before the U15s lost a tight game to Bromley High and the U18s were drawn against Bede ’ s , who have three professional cricketers . Hard-ball cricket is now played throughout the school , with all A teams playing hard-ball matches . This is an exciting time for girls cricket at the school , moving in a positive direction in terms of participation and performance .
The 1st XI made the final of the U18 Lemon Cup where they lost to Canterbury Academy . The highlight of their cup run was a seven-wicket haul from Inigo Streets against Maidstone Grammar . Another highlight from the season was a 122-run partnership between Harry House ( 98 not out ) and Ollie Rajah ( 40 ) against King ’ s Canterbury . From 34 for 6 we ended up posting 251 for 9 , which is an incredible fight back , as we went on to win the match by 96 runs .
Mr Kiggell ’ s U15Bs were the popular team of the season . They created a brilliant atmosphere at every training session and match . That enjoyment led to success on the field with them winning six out of eight matches , including against an A team .
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to another action-packed Summer term of cricket .
