DANCE SHOW
The 2022 dance show began with a flying start with ‘ Just Dance ’, a classic Lady Gaga song , with a lively and energetic performance by seven Sixth Form students , choreographed by Lou Riedel .
The show continued to wow the audience with the wide range of styles . There was ‘ The Wellerman ’, a sea shanty choregraphed by Mrs Rhatigan and danced by a group from Years 7-10 , as well as ‘ Revolting Children ’ and ‘ Water Under the Bridge ’, which provided an emotional , lyrical style of dance . This hugely contrasted with a powerful performance to the Pirates of the Caribbean theme music , choreographed and performed by Molly Hunt , Sophie Ross and Isla Thomson . I loved performing a solo to ‘ Phantom of the Opera ’ which I hope the audience found dramatic – it was wonderful to have the chance to choreograph something myself .
Andrea Olsen performed multiple numbers , from a lively Latin American ballroom performance to a thrilling dance to ‘ She Wants Me Dead ’ by Cazzette . We also enjoyed a delightful performance to ‘ The Whale Song ’ from PJ Birt . Furthermore , Aurelia Worth performed two magnificent dances : ‘ War and Peace ’ and ‘ Succession ’.
Weeks of practice and tough work were all worth it for the colourful mix of grace , energy , spice and even romance in an incredible tap dance performance by Tiffany Hwang and Hao Ping Yau to ‘ La La Land ’. The audience completed the show with their spirit and energy .
We raised over £ 1000 for The UOcean Project , which aims to clean , protect and restore the world ’ s oceans by 2050 . Thank you to all the teachers and Lower Sixth students who were responsible for organising the show and thank you to everyone who came to watch – we hope to see you again next year !
