Our results were outstanding – an IB average of 40.3 , and at GCSE / IGCSE , 96 per cent grades 9 to 7 with 66 per cent of all exams a grade 9 . These were in line with the excellent results achieved by students both during the pandemic and before .
Perhaps what pleased me even more than these numbers was the comments of staff running the examinations ; they said that they were deeply impressed by the approach of the students , who were calm , mature and focused throughout . If the grades are the straw , the useful by-product , then the ability to manage workload , cope with a pressured environment , think calmly and synthesise knowledge into coherent answers and arguments – these are the grain , the main purpose of us being here at school .
