When feeling unwell or anxious , to go to the Health Centre and be seen by Katie would instantly make anyone feel a bit better . Her kindness shines through and her absolute professionalism instils huge confidence in people , even at their most vulnerable . At interview , Katie stood out to us as an amazing find . She joined Sevenoaks in August 2013 , bringing with her a wealth of experience and depth of understanding of schools and boarding . Her clear vision and dedication have brought many improvements to the way the Health Centre works , always with the welfare and safety of the students firmly at the heart , while also thinking about the nurses in her team . She worked tirelessly to review all the paperwork regularly , to keep it compliant , but also to make it practical and workable on the ground . She gave up countless hours to help plan and implement new Covid areas and policies ; the government guidance changed so rapidly , yet she was always there to offer good advice and ideas . The school owes her a great deal and we shall miss her enormously .

Very sadly we have had to say our farewells to Kate Ellis this year ! She has been a hugely valued member of the Health Centre team throughout her 14 years at the school and we have all benefited from her wealth of experience . We will miss her wonderful calm presence ; she was absolutely the glue that held us all together . Her supreme wisdom and quiet efficiency were legendary . Always the voice of wisdom in our hour of need , Kate was a real friend and confidante . With a recent house move , and the arrival of a beautiful granddaughter , she can at last look forward to spending more time with family . We wish her the happiest of retirements in her new home .
