Rugby
Despite the departure of the older cohort in the summer , I ’ m confident that rugby will still be in great shape and build upon its success . An abundance of younger players are waiting in the ranks to wear that first team jersey and I wish them every success upon their journey .

As we move forward , I reiterate the comments made by our 1st XV captain , and I praise the contributions made by all . Highlights included :
Year 9 – Athleticism & Flair Across A-C teams , Sevenoaks finished victorious in 19 out of 26 fixtures . We welcomed 12 students to the school who had never touched a rugby ball , of whom eight went on to represent the B and C teams .
Now that the rugby season has drawn to a close , we reflect on a term which produced many fond memories , great team values and attitudes , and which culminated in several fantastic performances .
Overall , it was a hugely successful season and another massive step in a positive direction for rugby at Sevenoaks School . From an Upper School perspective , a tremendous number of students chose rugby in the Michaelmas term . This depth of interest has helped to drive successful seasons for both 1st and 2nd XV . Over the last three years , I have seen a growing bond between Upper and Lower Sixth ; this has helped on and off the field in developing better relations and driving performances . There were many highs throughout the year , one of which will live long in the memory : we smashed rivals King ’ s Canterbury 37-7 , a game where every single player wore their heart on their sleeve and fought to win every collision . The second team experienced a tough start to the season . However , a resilient and hardworking approach provided the building blocks to overturning their fortunes . This led to achieving memorable victories over our arch-rivals , King ’ s Canterbury and Christ ’ s Hospital .
Year 10 – Courageous & Resolute A 50-50 season for A-C teams from a results perspective . However , they possess fantastic sportsmen with a determined nature which will ultimately change their fortunes on the field . We predict a huge turnaround at U16 level .
U16 – Camaraderie & Passion Sevenoaks advocates of the game , who take pride in representing the morals and values linked to the rugby fraternity . They are eagerly awaiting their chance to step up to senior rugby next year !
Lower Sixth – Loyalty & Tenacity We had the highest number of 1st / 2nd team representatives of senior rugby this year . Each of them thrived when given the opportunity to rub shoulders with their peers .
Upper Sixth – Respect & Aptitude We have complete admiration for this group of players who possessed great skill , energy , passion and togetherness at all times . Their love for the game and endless energy has inspired many that follow in their footsteps .
In summary , the future is incredibly bright at Sevenoaks School . A group of loyal serving individuals wait in the wings to create memories that will last a lifetime .
