Whether a top team or a developing team , every moment on pitch gives us just as much reward as we see players thrive and improve . Our commitment to providing opportunity for all , as well as support for developing excellence , continues to be at the very heart of our hockey programme .

The 1st XI enjoyed a perfect balance of amity and teamwork , both on and off the pitch , through the blend of individual talents from Year 10 to Upper Sixth . The team gelled , proving to be a force in both attack and defence , and this was reflected in a wellfought ten wins , one draw and five losses .
A standout occasion that showcased everyone ’ s individual abilities , but also the team ’ s potential , was victory at the Reed ’ s Tournament near the beginning of the season . A nail-biting final demonstrated the selfless hard work that every player was willing to contribute towards the team ’ s success . A draw in the final meant penalty strokes ; Kat Pastron dynamically saved three as an unshakeable force in our goal , and our takers held their nerve and calmly slotted home to give us overall victory of a game that tested not only the team ’ s endurance , but its versatility and adaptive capacity . This marked the beginning of a very successful season .

After playing 2nd XI hockey for two years now , I have seen players from four year groups join our team , two seasons of undefeated play , and constant progression at tournaments , in order to appear twice at regional finals . It is not always easy , but it became a comfortable expectation to deal with players coming and going depending upon selection , and this added to our ability to maintain diversity in our play and approach to the game . We also continued with a solid consistency in terms of both results and team mentality , perhaps most notably during our final game at the first regional tournament . After a disappointing draw , we put ourselves through to the next round on flicks ; five strokes scored and composed saves from goalie Eesha Singh . Our season saw us string together passes and find players in the D , the scoreboard often reflecting our possession in the game . Top scorers , like Phoebe Buckland , could always be relied on to put the ball in the back of the net , along with the reliable defensive roles filled by Ella Roberts and Ellie Williams . Credit goes to Ellie Parton too , as both the most reliable and positive member of our team . Overall , I can only smile at our enjoyment of a sport that we have all participated in together , throughout our years at Sevenoaks .
