Basketball
A season filled with highlights and a springboard for future success .
This basketball season was filled with highlights and looks to be the springboard for future Sevenoaks basketball success . Although we started this year ’ s season with two disappointing losses against Whitgift and City of London Freemen ’ s School , we were a new group who needed to get to know each other better .
Soon after , the team clicked and proceeded to win four games straight , led by Ludovico Federici ’ s dominance in the paint , as well as the constant barrage of threes from our shooters , Justin Yan and Jefferey Zhang . In fact , the team may have become over-confident and we were quickly humbled by way of two straight losses against Alleyn ’ s School and KCS Wimbledon – teams we knew we were better than . But we grew from these losses ; even as the team lost crucial Upper Sixth leaders , such as Anthony Dinh , as their year became increasingly busy , new boys stepped up and contributed to a renewed focus . Two names that stand out are Trevor Igasta and Henry Bristow , both of whom began the year in the practice squad but ended up playing key minutes in important games towards the end of the year .
Our final stretch of the season was filled with amazing memories such as Ludovico Federici ’ s 32 points , John Zhao ’ s five three-pointers and Beksultan Issayev ’ s tenacious and ‘ assertive ’ defensive intensity . This was a group of guys who would listen to Justin Bieber during the warmups and then proceed to score 102 points against The Skinners ’ School . In short , we had fun , but we also knew how to win . We look forward to carrying this momentum into next year !
