ECO COMMITTEE : Eco schools
To become an eco-school the process includes the completion of seven steps in order to gain the Green Flag Award . This is an internationally recognised award which declares a school an eco-school . The seven steps are :
1 . Create an eco committee , 2 . Perform an environmental review , 3 . Create an action plan and follow it through ,
4 . Create links between subjects in the curriculum and being eco-friendly ,
5 . Inform and involve your school and community and ask for their ideas and thoughts ,
6 . Monitor and evaluate your action plan and get proof to show that you followed your action plant for the Green Flag Award ,
7 . Create an eco code which all staff and pupils should abide to .

When primary schools first came to our Green Team sessions , we began by talking to them about sustainability and its definition . This developed into other topics , such as sustainable and unsustainable energy sources . We then helped the primary school pupils to create action plans and think about them in detailed ways , as well as explaining how to monitor these plans . From this experience I gained the ability to talk to smaller children about our environment , learning together while also having fun .
