The Lockdown Concert

In April , my friend William Caiger came up with the idea of raising funds for charities which help Sevenoaks and the surrounding area through a live concert streamed from the school ’ s official channels .

Will , Dominic Sassone and I immediately set to work trying to organise this . The Director of Service and Social Impact , Miss Davison , was quickly on hand with some productive feedback and suggestions as to how we could make this project as successful as possible . After discussions with the Head of Music , Mr Dyer , we decided we would be better to release a video consisting of a number of performances from students and teachers alike .
The first course of action was planning ; we floated lots of ideas about how we could make it work , while raising as much money as possible for these vital charities . We considered YouTube live streams , eStream and a multitude of other platforms , but eventually settled on Vimeo . The timing was tough . We had to get the word out to students and teachers to get performing ! We also needed to publicise it to parents and the wider community , and finally , to make the video itself .
We were immensely encouraged by the response . We received lots of incredible performances , ranging from Adi Lovlekar ( Year 9 ) singing ‘ Skyfall ’ by Adele to James King ’ s ( Year 11 ) performance of Chanson de Matin by Edward Elgar , and even some Latin rhythms on the drums from the Modern Languages department ’ s very own Mr Rands-Webb !
