Krish Misra ( Year 8 ) reached out to other departments , students and projects from beyond the campus .
Mr Niklas had sent everyone who took part in the Performing Shakespeare Monologue Competition an opportunity to record a monologue for the Guardian newspaper ’ s Shakespeare Solo compilation . I recorded a speech from As You Like It and my clip was used in the final edition . Not long after , Sophie Rayment in the Sixth Form asked me to take part in a recording of a play online , a version of Duncan Macmillan ’ s Every Brilliant Thing , a very hard play to do during lockdown as it uses audience interaction when performed live – but we managed to come up with some clever ideas about how to do these parts .
Marcel Steinbauer-Lewis ( Year 9 ) took the advice to ‘ make good art ’:
What do you do when you ’ re stuck at home all day ? One of my favourite authors , Neil Gaiman , suggests that even in the dullest , most dire or desperate situations there is one foolproof way of coping , a true panacea : ‘ Make good art !’ This is one of the best pieces of advice I have ever received in my life , and here is how it worked out for me over the Summer term . I experimented with photography , observing the nuances of light and shadow , textures and the importance of empty spaces . Following artist Nina Katchadourian ’ s example , I created ‘ spine poetry ’ by arranging piles of books so that their spines read as meaningful or humorous compositions . Both of these activities contributed to developing my filmmaking .

While my feature length Star Wars fan film , after years of slow development , is now finally approaching completion , I have in the last few weeks completed two short films for Mr Niklas ’ s Mobile Phone Film Festival . A third one is in the planning stage . All three are much more
