Dance Show
The dance show was an immensely enjoyable experience . Last year ’ s show was very successful , raising over £ 1000 for our chosen charity , Danceaid , and we set out determined to do the same again and to make the show even better . As a couple of old hands , we had the pleasure of returning to help this year ’ s Lower Sixth organising committee , led by Hayley Cheam , Sarah Liaw and Sophie Wilkinson , by choreographing our own pieces . It was
40 incredible to work with such a variety of dance styles , age groups and talented choreographers , all sharing the same undying passion and love for dance .
The show featured large group dances , choreographed by our teacher Chantelle Poole and coach Katie Rice , and performed by students from Year 7 to the Upper Sixth . Chantelle has been running the dance clubs for years now and has created a welcoming environment for aspiring dancers of any
PERFORMING ARTS level where they can progress year after year while working on the show with their peers from different age groups . The dances she choreographed included several showstopping jazz numbers from classic musicals , including a charming tap performance of ‘ Singin ’ in the Rain ’ which featured a solo from Anar , delightful shimmying for Hairspray , and moody , jazzy renditions of Pulp Fiction and Chicago .
