Professor Kenneth Cheung ( Park Grange 82 ) I recently joined the Sevenoaks School Foundation as a Trustee , as well as being an executive committee member of Friends of Sevenoaks School HK Ltd .
Peter Wedlake ( Groves 83 ) I retired from Kent Police in 2014 at the rank of Superintendent . I now manage cycle training for Kent County Council and live in Rochester , Kent .
Amali De Silva-Mitchell ( GIH 84 ) Like everyone else we are shut for Covid-19 but enjoying the benefits of connected technologies ! At the European Dialogue on Internet Governance ( EuroDIG ) 2020 Conference I hosted a Big Stage Event ‘ Managing Integrated Health Care ; Data Driven Technologies ’. I am also writing a cookery book on Asian Fusion Soups .
Nicholas Wergan ( Hardinge 86 ) After seven years of Headship at Steyning Grammar School I have taken up the role of Global Education Director for Inspired Education Group .
Hessam Kalantar ( School House 87 ) I was at Sevenoaks from 1982 to 1987 , and house captain of School House during my last year . After immigrating to Canada , and ten years as a corporate lawyer in New York , I moved to Dubai , UAE in 2008 . In 2018 started my own boutique law firm , Kalantar Business Law Group ( KBLG ), with offices in Dubai and New York . KBLG advises on all manner of corporate and commercial matters , particularly cross-border transactions . I ’ ve also been part of rounding up the local Sevenoaks alumni and we ’ ve had a couple of social events in Dubai . Hopefully more to come once Covid-19 is behind us .
Gavin Palmer ( School House 89 ) After five years , being a founder signatory to the Climate Change resolutions led by the shareholder activist group Follow This has paid off , with £ 3 trillion of pension fund support and BP and Shell oil companies driven to new actions by responsible shareholders .
Tom Simmonds ( Hardinge 89 ) Having spent 24 years working in financial services ( with a particular focus on data in business process outsourcing ), two colleagues and I ( one of whom is also a Sevenoaks School alumnus ), have launched a purpose before profit technology business which will help 20 million members of the public reconnect with some of the £ 50bn of assets currently laying unclaimed across every financial sector . Revd Evelyn Sweerts ( née Vermeulen ) ( Tammadge 93 ) I was ordained priest in the Church of England by the Right Reverend Dr Robert Innes , Bishop of Gibraltar in Europe , in Luxembourg on 28 September 2020 .
Cathrin Bauer-Bulst ( GIH 96 ) After some years first in the USA and then back in Germany , I ’ ve been living in Brussels with my husband and sons since 2010 , working for the European Commission . My work focuses on better rules and stronger coordination for fighting cybercrime and child sexual abuse across the EU , and I have just become Head of Unit . The topic and the great Commission setting , where I get to work with brilliant people from all over Europe who committed to the European idea , keep me very motivated , and Brussels is a great place to live for the whole family . Andrew Wallis ( Wordsworth 99 ) I joined Kreston Reeves , a top 25 South-East based accountancy firm , as a Corporate and International Tax Partner on 18 March . I couldn ’ t have picked a better time to join given the lockdown that followed !

Harriet Bell ( née Shee ) ( 05 ) I ’ ve been living in Kenya since 2014 with my husband and our growing family . I am co-founder of a community development organisation in rural Kenya that works to empower communities to develop routes out of poverty . My focus is on helping to train primary teachers who have had no formal training . We particularly work with small mud hut schools with limited resources and high levels of poverty . I believe that every child , regardless of the circumstances they have been born into , deserves access not just to an education , but to a good quality education .
