The CCF enjoyed its largest ever intake this year with 117 excited Year 10s joining the ranks .
Training was as busy as always in the Michaelmas term with the Year 10 evening exercise in Knole Park quickly followed by various field days . The RN section took this year ’ s honours in the Big Christmas Quiz , which sadly was to be the last intersection competition as the pandemic brought the Lent term to an abrupt halt the week before It ’ s A Knockout , with the Gun Run another casualty . Remote training throughout the Summer term continued apace however , with a mix of syllabus-based learning and tests , home command tasks , NCOs leading Teams lessons and activities , not to mention the first few editions of Flt Sgt Tasha Dambacher ’ s excellent RAF Newsletter .
We were delighted to welcome Jin Lee , Simon Phillips and 2Lt Autumn Burrows to the staff body , and are pleased to announce the promotions of two of our section heads : Capt Julia Kiggell to Major , and Flt Lt Helen Tebay to Squadron Leader .
Sgt Josh Davies attended the RAF ’ s Air Cadet Leadership Course as well as the National Aerospace Camp , and he , along with C / Sgt Gabriel Leigh and WO Theo Duke went off to Bavaria on CCAT ski courses . The shooters shot superbly in the Cadet Skill at Arms Meeting ( pictured ), placing third and fourth out of 28 . This year , the Army Prize was won by WO2 Michael Presland , the Centurion Cup by WO Tom Langford , and the RAF Prize by Flt Sgt Max Manley .
