With a fresh dose of new players to revitalise the 1st and 2nd teams , this season saw a great deal of success . A key moment in the squash journey for the 1st team was the Kent Schools Cup . After a disappointing 4-0 loss in our first match we were certainly the underdogs in the tournament . However , through the strong resolve , perseverance and unmatched dedication of the team to play their best , we managed to come second in the group . The semi-finals proved a challenge . Nevertheless , we went to the finals to have a rematch against Litchfield , our first opponent . We took a prestigious second place and the team were elated with the result . The team ’ s performance at the Kent Schools Cup reflected the season : always an uphill battle with key injuries at one and two forcing everyone else to ‘ play up ’, but the team never failed to live up to the challenge .

The 1st team have had an incredible season , with high levels of representation across all year groups and an 85 per cent win rate . We started the season off with a brilliant victory in the first round of the nationals , with strong wins across all seeds . Charged by this victory , we marched into round two . Here , we narrowly lost a key match 2-3 to Downe House , which unfortunately took us out of the tournament . Regardless , this is the furthest we have reached in the last couple of years and this was a great learning opportunity for the team . The experience helped to highlight our strength , supportive nature and teamwork . In particular , there was a very strong performance from Jessica Fleming who won all three of her matches .
Another key moment for the team was the Kent Schools Cup , where we were runners-up . The final was
against Invicta Grammar School , and we narrowly lost against their team comprising Kent county players .
Overall , this has been a great season for the girls ’ 1st team and the last season for several of us . I know I can say without a doubt that for us Upper Sixth players , it has been an absolute pleasure being part of the team over the years . Although we had an untimely end of season , I cannot wait to see the team go even further in the coming seasons and wish them the best of luck .
