Sailing
Sevenoaks sailing remains popular with over 80 sailors in the programme this year , along with an additional 20 or so in the CCF Navy section . Following the departure of a very strong year group who had dominated the school sailing circuit for a couple of years , it was time to bring on a new generation . Things started very positively with the new U18A team winning their first event in October , the BSDRA ( British Schools Dinghy Racing Association ) Midland Championships hosted by Magdalen College School . The teams then went on to compete at the extremely competitive RYA Youth and Junior Championships where in a ‘ development ’ year all the teams still performed well and more importantly learnt a lot : the U18s finished eighth overall and the U16s sixth and ninth ( second and third placed schools ) overall . in the highly prestigious Endeavour Trophy , effectively the champion of champions event for UK sailing which sees numerous Olympians and world champions taking part . Will finished a very commendable 20th out of 30 and was the first-placed youth .
In March we ran a successful training Exeat weekend at Whitstable Yacht Club and we hope we can foster a relationship with them
Captain of sailing Will Caiger missed out on the Youth and Junior Championships : by virtue of winning the RS Aero 5 National Championships he was invited to compete
