I remember Katy Ricks coming into my office last year at one stage and telling me , with some surprise , how keen Theresa had been to accept the role of Acting Head for this year . I wonder , had she known what was in store , whether she would have been quite so keen to accept – particularly given that she did not have her own Theresa to whom she could pass on the more tricky and time-consuming problems .
Of course , we do all know that T ( as she is affectionately known in homage to her email style ) has actually been running the school for years – the Operational Head , I think was Katy ’ s term for it – and I can ’ t think of anyone else who would have been as suited to the job . She knows the place inside out , having taught here for 40 years . She has always worked exceptionally hard and really mucks in – lunch duty , for example , is a positive pleasure for her ! And it is absolutely obvious to all of us how much she cares about the students and the staff . This unique academic year was led by Theresa Homewood . Here we print the speech of thanks given by Arabella Stuart , Director of Admissions , at the final staff meeting of the year . It was met by the Microsoft Teams equivalent of a standing ovation , as colleagues unmuted their microphones to clap and cheer , and messages of thanks poured into the chat panel .
