The Canary Wharf Children’s Art Trail featured two sculptures by
Oliver Barratt (OS 1981).
Wildlife photographer Will Burrard-Lucas (OS 2002) captured a
series of high-quality camera trap photographs of a wild melanistic
leopard (black panther) in Africa; it is thought to be the first time
anyone has achieved this.
Johnny Chatterton (OS 2002) was selected as one of 20 fellows
of the Obama Foundation, as a result of his charity, Campaign
Bootcamp. The Obama Foundation Fellowship supports outstanding
civic innovators who work with their communities to create
transformational change.
Ellie Desmond (OS 2013) and her team from Durham University
Electric Motorsport have qualified for the Bridgestone World Solar
Challenge 2019 with their car, Ortus.
Organist James McVinnie (OS 2001) joined the ensemble for the
European premiere of Symphony No 12; a reimagining of David
Bowie’s album Lodger, and one of the Bowie Symphonies at the
Southbank Centre.
Amber Medland (OS 2008) was selected for the London Library’s
Emerging Writers Programme for unpublished writers. She was one
of 38 candidates chosen from a field of over 600 applicants. Wild
Pets, her first novel, will be published in September 2021.
Sonny Mehta (OS 1961), Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Knopf
Doubleday Publishing Group, received the 2018 Maxwell E. Perkins
Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Field of Fiction, awarded
by the Center of Fiction.
John Shields (OS 1993) was appointed Editor of Beyond Today,
a daily spin-off podcast for BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.
The Prime Minister appointed Jonathan Evans, Lord Evans KCB
DL (OS 1976), Chair of the Committee on Standards in Public Life. Ed Stambollouian (OS 2006) directed Pinter Four, as part of the
Julia George (née Botfield) (OS 1990) presents the BBC’s Sunday
Politics programme for the South East. Caroline Steinbeis (OS 1998) was the Director for Rutherford and
Clementine Hain-Cole (OS 2008) is the Seasonal Cook for Major General Charles Stickland RM (OS 1986) was appointed
Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in the 2019 Birthday
Honours.

Executive of Sport England.
Vanessa Kisuule (OS 2009) is a writer and performer, and in 2017
she was awarded the Leverhulme Arts Scholarship from Bristol Old
Vic. She is the current Bristol City Poet until 2020 and has published
a poetry collection, A Recipe for Sorcery.

David Livingstone (OS 1982) is the producer and Tom Edge Helen Zaltzman (OS 1997) featured in The Observer as she
(OS 1995) the writer for the feature film Judy starring Renee
Zellweger, released in October 2019. celebrated the 100th episode of her podcast The Allusionist. The
podcast is about language: what it means and how it develops.
Anthony Lunch (OS 1963) was presented with an RYA Lifetime
Commitment Award, one of the Royal Yachting Association’s most
prestigious awards, in recognition of his commitment to Oxford
University Yacht Club.
