National success for the
U13 girls
2019 was an excellent year for cricket at Sevenoaks.
It started with the Lady Taverners Indoor Cricket
Competition. We hosted the local cluster round and
the county finals, with our U13 team winning all
matches convincingly and our U15 team finishing
third at the county finals. At regionals our U13s
won again and made the national finals at the MCC
Indoor Centre at Lord’s. We lost our first game to
the eventual winners in a close game and ended
up third in the country out of 870 schools. Special
mentions must go to Isla McCulloch, Esther Adcock,
Ella Lockhart and Phoebe Gough-Cooper for some
impressive performances throughout the tournament.
Developing the girls cricket
programme
It was our first summer of U14 and U15 girls cricket
and our first hard ball matches were played. The
U14s had an excellent season with six wins and two
losses. They made the transition to hard ball and
showed excellent signs for the future of girls cricket
at the school. The U15As were a less experienced
group but the progress they made was clear to see
in their performances towards the end of the term.
Our U13As had another successful season, losing just
one of their matches. They also won the independent
schools section of the Chance to Shine Tournament
and played a couple of hard ball matches in June.

The most successful season
for decades
The Summer term quickly came around and the 2019
season was the school’s most successful for decades.
With an overall win percentage of over 70 per cent
it is clear most teams performed superbly. The 1st XI
won ten out of 11 games, with Henry Procter being
the standout performer, scoring the most runs in a
season by any 1st XI cricketer for 30 years. Henry
Procter and Harry Houillon both scored centuries and
Michael Procter, Joseph Lewis and Matt Dawkins all
