C ross country
An outstanding year for cross country,
with numerous achievements.
Right: Junior girls, ESAA Cup
Far right: Our third-placed boys’
team in the Knole Run with their
medals
Knole Run
The girls came first and boys third, our (joint) best
performance in history! In the boys’ race James Elgar
gave a particularly impressive performance to make
the top ten and finish ninth, with Ingmar Gunn in
24th. In the girls’ race, we had three runners in the top
ten with Carlotta Weitzel in fifth, Maddie Wise in sixth
and Grace Fleming in tenth. Meghan Watson, Clara
Tyler and Georgie Crawley completed the first-placed
team, 17 points clear of nearest rivals, Highgate. Charterhouse Cup
KSAA Cross Country Cup The junior girls did phenomenally well to come
seventh out of 458 teams nationally. A stand-out
performance in the final round came from Telia Green
in 15th. The inter girls also did superbly to finish 15th
out of 415 teams, with a stand-out performance in
the final round from Maddie Wise in 13th.
A record 22 students were selected to run for Kent
Schools following the county championships in Dover.
Both Phoebe Barker and Maddie Wise ran superbly
judged races to win in style. Five students represented
the county at the highest level, the English Schools
Championships: Phoebe Barker, Fin Croll, Grace
Fleming, Carlotta Weitzel and Maddie Wise. Phoebe
was an amazing 14th (third for Kent), and Fin did very
well to come 67th (fourth for Kent).
Both the boys’ and the girls’ teams won this event.
Will Bolton relays
Phoebe Barker recorded the second-fastest time on
the course in history and the girls came second overall
against some stiff competition from club teams.

Henry VIII Relays
The girls’ A team defended their title. Their collective
time was ten seconds faster than last year’s win and
they dominated from Phoebe Barker’s first lap (the
fastest by 18 seconds). A superb result in probably
the most competitive senior fixture in the calendar,
this places us amongst the best distance-running
schools nationally.
