Leavers 2016
Leavers 2017
There will be 216 university entrants this year from
Sevenoaks School to leading universities across
the world.
Seventy-eight per cent took up a place at one of the
Russell Group universities. Of these, 37 Sennockians
are taking up places at Oxford or Cambridge, while
49 are taking up places at one of the London colleges
including LSE, UCL, KCL and Imperial. Other popular
university destinations were Durham, Exeter, Bristol,
Nottingham, Edinburgh, Warwick, St Andrews and
Bath. This year 19 students took up places at US or
Canadian universities, including Yale, Stanford and
McGill, with ten going to universities within Europe
and Hong Kong.
The Sciences and STEM remain a popular subject
choice (58 students), followed by Economics, Business
20
and Finance (30), Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (24),
History, Politics and International Relations (20) and
Combined Honours and Liberal Arts (19). Modern, Classical
and Middle Eastern Languages continue to attract large
numbers of applicants (13 in 2018), as does Law (12).
This year ten students will study Psychology and
Sociology, and ten Creative and Performing Arts.
Thirty-one 2018 leavers will be taking a gap year,
some of whom are holding deferred entry offers, with
one student entering an apprenticeship.
With the competition for the top places remaining fierce,
this is a tremendous record of achievement, and we wish
all our new undergraduates every success in their higher
education and future careers.
