P ublic ex amination results
Our students and teachers can be very pleased with one of our strongest
ever sets of examination results. The Upper Sixth achieved quite
outstanding results – the overall IB average stands at 39.7, ten points
above the world average. At 216, this was one of our largest cohorts, and
we are very pleased to achieve this level of success across the group.
Year 11 impressed similarly with a mixture of Sevenoaks School
Certificates, International and national GCSEs. Ninety-two per cent
of entries were graded at A*/A or equivalent. The introduction of new
GCSE courses and gradings in some subjects proved no obstacle to our
students – in all cases, the grade most awarded was the new grade 9,
intended to be the most discriminating and difficult to achieve.
We do not, on principle, participate in league tables, but it is worth
noting that these results position us as one of the very top schools, both
in the UK and in the global IB community. These pleasing results confirm
our view that good examination results and university places follow
naturally as a consequence of our continuing focus on the all-round
education of our students.
