T he F riends of S evenoak s Huge thanks to all involved in FoS for another superb year. The New Parents’ Supper, a fantastic Persian-themed evening with exquisite food from our school chefs, was the first event of the year, enabling parents of pupils who were new to the school to get to know one another. At the Quiz Night in November we witnessed the teachers being beaten by a parents’ table for the first time in three years. In the run-up to Christmas, under the leadership of Gatling Puech, the incredibly impressive Bazaar team raised £1858, and a further £1742 was raised by the PROMO team. Sadly, snow put paid to the Carol Service, which had to be cancelled. The year group social coordinators organised Christmas and summer parties, with venues including The Wildernesse Golf Club, St Julian’s and even a brave Year 9 parent’s house! Ad hoc coffees, brunches and lunches have also been organised, along with monthly dog walks with the Striders. The highlight of the year was the 1920s ball, beautifully organised by Wiebeke Vuursteen and her team, and held in May on Duke’s Meadow. The outfits, food and entertainment were all amazing and over 400 people enjoyed an evening of eating, drinking and dancing, all topped off by an impromptu thunder and lightning display! We are most grateful to our Treasurer, Sue Newman, to Carina Bendrame, who has organised the school year group coffee mornings, to Bridget Salmon, Holly Meadows and their teams who have efficiently run the second-hand shop and lost property, and to Ollie Maunder and Christine Clinton for organising a superb careers evening for the pupils. Surplus funds have been distributed to the school to enhance the education of the students. This included funding a lighting truss for the Pamoja Hall. Huge thanks to all the parents involved in the FoS team. Arabella Stuart has been the staff liaison for FoS for four years, but is stepping down at the end of this academic year. We are extremely grateful for all her hard work. Taking her place is Sébastien Coquelin, who is already well known to us and is sure to be a great asset to the team. Congratulations Seb!
