E nrichment Wee k During the final week of the academic year, all students from Years 7 to 10 and the Lower Sixth were involved in over 45 different activities and trips, each linked to the future hopes, challenges and possibilities of Generation Z. projects Gen Z are the group born since just before the turn of the millennium. This generation has grown up at war with the loosely defined forces of global terrorism, has known a world of political and financial turmoil, is the first tribe of true digital natives, interacts actively on social media websites and is risk-averse. Decoding code The key aim of the projects was to provide students with a range of exciting projects in different, unfamiliar contexts. Students were encouraged to collaborate meaningfully with other year groups, and to nurture interdisciplinary skills that connect different subjects with each other. It was an opportunity to develop expertise in research, communication and independent critical thinking, to work creatively and imaginatively, to listen and to lead, and to enjoy learning in practical ways outside the classroom. On Founder’s Day parents and students had the opportunity to see some of the work that had gone on during the week, with a concert of original new music, photography displays, animated films, short films, show debates, a martial arts team pattern demonstration, a refugee simulation, a short drama and a dystopian art installation. Film-making “It was really easy to get invested in Dunton Green Primary School, where we were helping the children. There was a sense of community within the group, and it was fun.
