University Entry 2017
There will be 217 university entrants this year from
Sevenoaks School to leading universities across the world
(see pages 2-8).
Seventy-four per cent took up a place at one of the
Russell Group universities. Of these, 42 Sennockians are
taking up places at Oxford or Cambridge, while 56 are
taking up places at one of the London colleges including
LSE, UCL, KCL and Imperial. Other popular university
destinations were Durham, Bristol, Exeter, Warwick, Bath,
Edinburgh and St Andrews. This year 25 students took up
places at top US or Canadian universities.
The sciences and STEM remain a popular subject choice
(59 students), followed by Combined Honours and Liberal
Arts (28), Economics and Business (21), and History,
Politics and International Relations (21). Our applications
to read Medicine and Veterinary Medicine were hugely
successful, with 19 students taking up places. Modern,
Classical and Middle Eastern Languages continue to
attract large numbers of applicants. This year nine
students will study creative and performing arts, while
five will read Architecture.
Thirty-two students opted to take a gap year, with several
holding deferred offers.
With the competition for places becoming ever fiercer,
this is a tremendous record of achievement, and we wish
all our new undergraduates every success in their higher
education and future careers. Their destinations are listed
at the front of the Sennockian.
