Chapter 7: Favorites
Its hard to chose favorites of anything. Almost everything has their pluses and minuses, and most of the time when you try to create some type of ranking you run into a case of comparing apples to oranges. So here I'm just going to list what I got the most enjoyment out of, not what I think is objectively best or well made. I'll start with books. My favorite probably has to be The Lord of the Rings. This pick is primarily influenced by nostalgia, as I read it when I was fairly young. I have a deep attachment to the characters, the lore, the story, pretty much everything. Another series I really enjoy is A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, who I actually got to meet a book signing. The series has very cohesive and intriguing plot that really drags you in. I enjoy pretty much anything by Stephen King, though The Stand and The Dark Tower are stand-outs. The latter has one of the most unique and interesting worlds of anything I've experienced. There are so many fantastic movies out there that I'm not even going to bother choosing, but I will make a special mention to probably my favorite comedy, The Big Lebowski. I'm big fan of absurdist humor, probably because of Monty Python and the strange things I would watch on TV with my brothers late at night, and just idea of The Big Lebowski, a hard-boiled detective story except replace the gum-shoe detective with a washed-up stoner who likes to bowl, makes me laugh every time I think about it. I should probably mention my two favorite actors, Nicolas Cage and Arnold Schwarzenegger. They may not be considered the greatest actors ever, but their my favorite because no matter how bad the movie they're in is, it is still entertaining just because they're in it. They are ridiculous, hilarious, and just plain fun.
