Students in this club create a variety of products to be shared with local charitable organizations. The students meet in the Textiles classroom during lunch hour, once a week, to work collectively on these items. The club typically works on 3 major projects a year and uses a variety of processes to complete them. Past projects include key chains, bracelets, blankets, scarves, and cards. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with other CHS clubs to help support the creation of items for fundraisers and events.

Students in this club are encouraged to take an investigative look into their world, reporting on current events relating to CHS and the wider community in order to keep students and staff informed. Student-driven sharing of creative works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and art through an organic process of being inspired by one another. Students in this club will be invited to participate in brainstorming activities, photo and writing contests, and to publish their works in seasonal publications.
The Dialogue Club serves as a space where students and teachers alike can explore their own and others’ perspectives on a variety of topics. Through lunchtime dialogues, participants develop skills in active listening, respectful, and collaborative inquiry. Dialogues are facilitated by student leaders who have engaged in dialogue training with CHS teachers and the Institute for Global Learning. Ahead of these sessions, student dialogue facilitators will meet with teacher support to choose topics, create backgrounders, and develop prompts to guide the conversation. These dialogues will then be held at various points throughout the school year, inviting staff and students to participate. Topics may include but are not limited to current events, topics from school assemblies, and other issues of importance to the CHS students and the community.
This club is part of a school-wide, strategic initiative, and participating students and teachers will be invited, should they wish, to shape the direction of a practice of dialogue at CHS. This club is distinct from other senior school ones in that meetings may differ from a regular weekly schedule and it does not have elected student club captains. Moreover, it is only open to students from Grades 9-12 who have participated in a facilitated training session at the beginning of the school year. Any students who are interested in joining are encouraged to reach out to Ms. McDonald, Ms. Chow or Ms. Prabhu for further information.
