Reminiscing 20 Years of Service

Executive Director of Wichita State University’s Center for
Community Support and Research
(CCSR), Scott Wituk, has been
with the organization for nearly 20
years. During his undergraduate
career as a business major at WSU,
Scott took a social psychology class
with Dr. Louis Medvene, which
would eventually be a primary
cause of his change in major from
business to psychology.
Wituk recalled his first
encounter with CCSR, formerly
known as the Self-Help Network,
coming from a presentation
psychology professor Dr. Gregory
Meissen gave about volunteer
opportunities with the Self-Help
Network, located on the fourth
floor of Jabara Hall on the WSU
campus. Dr. Medvene offered extra
credit to students with volunteering experience so Wituk took
advantage of the opportunity and
got involved the with Self-Help
