has helped make me successful in the insurance business ,” Don Hurt stated . “ The biggest thing I took from dad was his work ethic . Growing up , I watched how he always worked - from working on the family farm on Saturdays and even working while on his lunch break .”
When the Hurt fatherson duo was at its peak , the two could be seen everyday at lunchtime working the rounds of different restaurants throughout the Pulaski County area .
“ We didn ’ t go out to lunch to sell insurance or anything ,” Don Hurt laughed . “ Dad just thought it was important to get out and be seen in the community . Most the time we just talked to people about UK sports or how their families were doing .”
“ In the long run , those lunches together probably helped our business , but for me it was that quality time I got to spend with my dad on a daily basis that I will always cherish ,” Don Hurt stated .
During those 60 years of business , the insurance agency has grown exponentially and has went through many changes . Gene Hurt started the business on the second floor of the old Masonic building with his secretary Betty Erp . After a move
