Universal Fibers is a global manufacturer of specialty fibers with its origins and a majority of its workforce in
Southwest Virginia. It’s the leading provider of pigmented yarn for tufted automotive floorcovering in North
America. As a senior design partner, Universal Fibers challenged students to determine how well hollow chamber
sound absorption reduces road noise using engineered and fabricated interior mats.
